This week we began to see a steady dose of early morning frost. If you intend on playing in the mornings going forward please ensure frost isn't present anywhere, and always wait for a staff member if it is in question. Watch this VIDEO to learn why it's important to wait for the frost to subside.
With the lower temperatures at night we will be forced to close the on course bathrooms and drinking fountains this week. They will be winterized and closed early this week. Please remember that when going out onto the course going forward.
We would greatly appreciate it if all clubs and push carts are taken home from bag storage before October 31st. We will utilize most of that space for winter storage, but this winter with the kitchen floor project, much work will take place in and directly above the storage area. If you have left items all winter long in the past we ask you consider taking them home this year due the project and chance of damage.
GHIN handicaps score posting is still available in Upstate New York until October 31st, keep posting scores until then.
Course Update From Steve:
⦁ 2 green verticutting/dethatching. This process will be an annual practice in October until organic matter levels come down within an acceptable range. It's highly disruptive and requires time for the surface to heal and stabilize. Expect bumpy conditions once the green re-opens.
⦁ Greens aerifying is reserved for early November. We aim for the sunniest and driest days so be warned: if it's a good day to golf in November, we will be aerifying. We'll usually give the pro shop a day or two notice so call ahead.
⦁ Fall projects begin this week. Expect activity around 12 fairway bunker, course bathrooms, 10 tee, 8 green, and 1 green.
⦁ Tree removals in other areas of the course will commence as ground conditions warrant.
⦁ Frost delays: Clear skies and 40 degrees or below are the warning signs to expect delays.
⦁ Fall Maintenance Schedules: Cup changing mowing and bunker raking will be in response to growth rate and amount of play which is determined by the Superintendent.
