Tuscarora Golf Club is organized under Section 501 (c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code as a social and recreational club. The Club is private and currently has 330 resident members. Tuscarora Golf Club maintains and operates a championship eighteen hole golf course, and a club house with a restaurant, a bar and locker rooom facilities. The course and club house are for the enjoyment of club members and their guests. The Club organizes and administers golf leagues, tournaments, and golf and social events for men, women and juniors. Information on various golf leagues is included under The Membership section of this site, and all golf and social events are posted on The Calendar section of this site. Golf Events Tuscarora's major annual tournaments are: The Jim Entwistle Memorial Tournament Held annually on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, The Memorial Day Member - Member was renamed in 2001 and dedicated to Jim Entwistle. Jim was the Head PGA Golf Professional at Tuscarora for thirty six years. The Entwistle Memorial is a two man scramble played over two days. Teams are flighted based on first roundscores and compete for flight championships on Sunday. The Entwistle Memorial is the kick-off for the competitive golf season at Tuscarora. Mens Three Day Member - Guest The Tuscarora Men's Three Day Member / Guest is held annually in the beginning of July. This year's tournament will take place on Thursday, July 9th through Saturday, July 11th. The tournament field of 144 golfers gathers some of the best golfing talent in Central New York, along with other participants whose talents lie elsewhere. The tournament is scored using a two man, best ball format. Thursday scores are used for flight qualification and eighteen hole in-flight matches are played on Friday morning and Friday afternoon. Winners advance to flight championship matches on Saturday morning, while the losers play each other in an attempt to salvage some modicum of pride and possibly, a pair of socks. Championship Flight and First Flight contenders play semi-final matches Saturday morning with the final two teams in each of these flights meeting in the afternoon to determine the champions. The Club Championship Men, women and juniors compete in the two day Club Championship each July. The Men's and Women's Open Divisions play 27 holes per day, while Senior Men and Juniors play 18 per day. The competition is medal play and is open to all members and their families. The recommendations are considered and voted upon by the board when membership openings occur. Each member may nominate one individual for membership per year. Nominations remain active for a one year period, and are not carried forward for future year consideration upless they are renominated by the sponsoring member. Members who wish to nominate a prospective member should send a nomination letter to the Chariman of the Membership Committee. The nomination letter should identify the prospective member by his or her name, address, and phone number, and should also provide a brief biography of the individual. It is important to note whether the nominee has ever been a Tuscarora member, or is a family member of a current or former Tuscarora member. Information on current initiation and annual dues can be obtained from the Chairman of the Membership Committee or from the Treasurer. Because of a holiday the meeting for the September 2007 will be the following week on the date as shown below. Any special meeting will be scheduled as needed.
